Content Status for Confluence is built to help you better organize and classify your Confluence pages. You can define and manage a status list by space, tag pages by custom status and visualize tagged pages in one centralized dashboard.

Content Status is available on the three hosting options: Cloud, Server, and Data Center. For more information about the differences between the three hosting options along with a clear migration path, please refer to these links.

## Tag content by custom status

In this section, we are going to walk you through the process of associating a Confluence page with a status.

- Add a status macro to a Confluence page

1. Navigate to a Confluence page
2. Click Edit
3. Click the Insert button “+” > View more
4. Search for “SP Content Status” in the dialog box

     5. Fill the drawer with relevant information about the status. Here, you can Insert additional text describing the status of the page, select the macro’s width and whether to display the name of the user who performed the changes. The page is marked as “Draft” by default. You can change its status once you publish it.

      6. The changes are displayed on the macro as you make them. Click Publish to visualize the status in view mode.

- Edit a Confluence page status

Once you have specified the status and published the page, you can edit the status to reflect the changes performed within the page.

Please note that only users with editing privileges can edit the status of a page.

1. Click on the edit icon right beside the status
2. Select one status from the drop-down. In our example, only three options are available by default as we are yet to create any new status. The three statuses are: Draft, Official and Archived.

Now although the status has been changed, you can still see that the text within the macro cannot be edited from the view mode. To edit the macro as whole:

1. Click edit
2. Navigate to the status macro and select the edit icon
3. Change the text, width and and whether to display the name of the user who performed the changes.

  4. The changes are displayed in the macro as you make them. Click Publish to visualize the status in view mode. As you can see in the screenshot below, the text has been changed to reflect the new status.
